Tools for running a home-based business

If you follow me, you might already know my story behind making the decision to share the actual business forms and business templates that I use every day to run my Virtual Assistant Practice that I started in 2008. To quickly recap, over the years, I’ve had quite a few aspiring virtual assistants reach out to me for advice. Some were business contacts referred by satisfied clients and others found me via my website or social media channels. A repeat question I got was, ‘where did you get a client agreement, client intake form, invoice template etc?’

The truth is, I spent a couple of months researching before I launched my virtual assistant business in 2008. I paid a pretty penny to join a virtual assistant networking group that included access to resources and documents. While the connections were valuable, the forms did not meet my criteria. So what did I do? I decided to create my own. I have tweaked them over the years, but they have not changed very much in the last 5 years. I have taken the business documents and templates that I use to run my business and put together a few different business form packages specific to virtual assistants. The packages in my store are designed to meet a simple goal I have for my business. I want to have systems and processes that are streamlined and easily repeatable.

Here’s the deal. When I create a system or process or a document or template, whether it is for my business or for a client, I always aim to meet the same goal. It need to be straight-forward, replicable and repeatable. Why? Because the less time I need to spend keeping my day-to-day operations running smoothly, the more time I have for client work. That’s the goal after all! We want our business to earn income.

Since my operational business templates and documents meet this criteria, that is why they have not changed much in recent years.
